The children of St Peter & St Pauls Primary School Burgh le Marsh have decided to give Garden Birds a Helping Hand this Breeding Season. To help them along the way Rotary President Margaret Taylor has visited the school and presented the children with some bird nesting boxes as part of the National Nest Box Week initiative - 14th to 21st Feb 2011.

This winter has been a hard one for garden birds and many, particularly smaller species, will have perished in the snow and freezing temperatures. The breeding season starts soon and to coincide with St Valentine’s Day when romance is in the air, the British Trust for Ornithology launched National Nest Box Week.

Many people are unaware that birds are fussy about what they see as suitable accommodation to breed their young.
