Funds raised for the Wheelchair Foundation by children of the Skegness Academy
On of the projects of The Rotary Club of Skegness International Committee this year has been to raise the awareness of the Wheelchair Foundation. Rotarian and Teacher Sam Dyers has worked with a group of children at Skegness Academy to raise money for the foundation. The children have completed various fund raising events in school and also took part in the Rotary Club's Santa Fun Run in teams of 4 pushing wheelchairs around the course.
Head Teacher Kelvin Hornsby said he was delighted the children had been involved as it gave them an understanding of the needs of those less fortunate.
The children raised a sum in excess of £1600 and President Margaret Taylor along with Rotarians Robin Wilkinson and Lucy Hawley visited the school to thank the children and collect the cheque.
