On a sunny Sunday morning Rotarians, families and friends once again descended upon the home of John and Judy Thornley for the annual Foundation walk and social.

foundation walk

This year the walk was through the woods with a meeting at the lakeside joined by the non walkers who had arrived with chairs rugs and more importantly Pimms and cakes.

An interesting and informative talk was then given by Barrie Wilkinson, whilst the food and drink was consumed.

Following this everyone headed back to base for an excellent meal including ham, salmon, quiche, salads and cous cous with expertly cut dates.

An enjoyable and sociable afternoon was then spent sitting in the afternoon sunshine.

Our thanks go to John who as well as hosting prepared the woodland for the walk and to Judy and Jane for the preparation and presentation of the food. Also to those who assisted in the clear up afterwards.

Special thanks also go to Barrie who accompanied us and explained the history of the wood, its management and development.

I am pleased to report that in excess of £350 was raised for the Rotary Foundation.

Phil Morley (PS I cut up the dates).
