83rd Charter of the Rotary Club of Skegness
This Year Skegness celebrated its 83’rd Charter and President Rob decided to do it slightly different form passed Charters by holding it on a Sunday afternoon.
Guests arrived at 12.30 and enjoyed Pimms in the garden, which enabled everyone to mix and chat to old and new friends before dinner and the more formal speeches.
Liz Wallis entertained us by walking amongst us playing her Sax, with music complimenting the sunny, warm afternoon we booked.
DAG Stephen Holdaway, kindly stepped in to represent DG John Dehnel who was attending another charter in our district. Stephen was also our guest speaker, his talk entitled “but I am a vicar” was very funny and complimented the afternoon.
President Rob on behalf of the club awarded two members with Paul Harris Fellowship’s, to past President's Pat King and Patricia Lowe. We thank them for there continuing support, dedication and 'service before self’ attitude in helping the Rotary Club of Skegness to acheive its goals.
Thanks go to Nigel, Lucy and staff at the Royal Hotel, for wonderful food and great service, thank you Liz and Stephen for entertaining us throughout the afternoon, and also to the team that was involved in putting it all together and finally thank you to our guest for coming along and supporting our club and making the afternoon so splendid.
