Rotarians Pat Lowe and Carole Cameron recently spent a rewarding morning at Skegness College carrying out mock interviews with students from the Business Studies Group.
The learners were interviewed for fictitious roles within a national organisation, with career aspirations ranging from accounting and human resources to the Fire Service. Each interview was designed to give the students a realistic experience while helping to build their confidence and interview skills.
The students were very receptive to the feedback they received. Advice covered areas such as dress code, posture, eye contact and providing full answers to interview questions. Carole devised the interview questions to encourage the students to demonstrate their strengths, and each learner was given the opportunity to ask questions at the end of the interview. This proved to be an area where many could develop further, and constructive feedback was provided.
Following the success of the session, Pat and Carole have been invited back to conduct mock interviews with students from the Health & Social Care and Plumbing courses.
Supporting young people as they prepare for future careers is a very rewarding partnership with Skegness College, and one that our club is proud to continue.
